The 39th Friends of John Coltrane Memorial Concert presents “An Evening of Ballads & Blues”
Friends of John Coltrane Memorial Concert presents “An Evening of Ballads & Blues”. The 39th Annual John Coltrane Memorial Concert featuring the John Coltrane Memorial Concert Ensemble, hosted by Eric Jackson, is set on Saturday, October 29, 2016, presented in collaboration with Northeastern Center for the Art and Northeastern Department of City & Community Affairs.
The Friends of John Coltrane Memorial Concert (fJCMC) announce their initial plans for this year’s 39th Annual John Coltrane Memorial Concert, entitled “An Evening of Ballads & Blues”featuring the following ensemble members: Carl Atkins (reeds and woodwinds), Billy Buss (trumpet), Consuelo Candelaria (piano), Jeff Galindo(trombone), Jason Palmer (trumpet), Bill Pierce (reeds and woodwinds), Ron Savage (percussion), Avery Sharpe (acoustic bass), Rick Stepton (trombone), Stan Strickland (reeds. woodwinds and voice), and Bobby Tynes (reeds and woodwinds). Eric Jackson will serve as host for the concert.

The John Coltrane Memorial Concert is co-produced by Leonard Brown, Professor Emeritus of Music & African American Studies at Northeastern University, and Emmett G. Price III, Professor of Worship, Church & Culture and Dean of Chapel (Hamilton Campus) at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
